Whether it's a wedding, corporate event, fundraiser or private dinner, Matt Evely Catering delivers exceptional results. Trust them to provide a memorable dining experience that your guests will talk about long after the event.Recently we were treated to some of Matt's home cooking, some of the dishes we tasted were mushroom risotto with cinnamon cap and lions mane mushrooms from the Newfoundland Mushroom Company. Next on the menu was a delicious dish of handmade gnocchi, with steamed bok choy greens and perfectly cooked monkfish. To finish we had the most tasty barolo braised beef with polenta and mushrooms and roasted carrots on white bean puree and dukkah. Matt makes it look easy but it isn't always easy, especially when there is a crowd. To end the evening we indulged in a passion fruit sabayon with fresh blackberries and raspberries. I can't end this post without mentioning the great beverages we had that night as well....we started off with a French 75, a gin based cocktail that was not just tasty but beautiful with its lavender colour that made it feel like Spring. The two wine selections of the evening were, surprisingly, a long time favourite of mine, Bersano Costalunga Barbera D'Asti with its garnet hue, spice and smoke, and plummy fruit flavours with good acidity and Tommasi Ripasso which was elegant and had smokey, floral, black plum preserve and spice.
